Our approach to French translation
Our website uses DeepL, a widely used AI-powered translation tool, to provide French-language versions of our content and make WCS Canada’s information accessible to French-speaking Canadians. DeepL is recognized for the quality of its translations and is widely used as a translation tool and website service. Human reviews of selected pages commissioned by WCS Canada have demonstrated a high level of accuracy in DeepL’s French translations of our website.
We also maintain an internal glossary of organization-specific and technical terminology, which allows us to override automated translations where needed and maintain consistency in key terms. Please note that DeepL does not automatically translate downloadable PDFs and other documents available through our resource library. Where French versions of these materials are available, they are provided separately.
Our commitment to improvement
We recognize the importance of accessible and high-quality communications for French-speaking Canadians. Automated translation allows us to make a greater range of our information available in French in the most timely manner. We recognize that AI tools are not a substitute for human review in every instance, and recognize that some auto-translated content may contain occasional errors or wording that could be improved.
We commit to regular review of our content and internal terminology glossary as needed. We welcome feedback from our community as we work to improve the quality and accessibility of our French-language communications. If you have questions, notice an error or have a suggestion about our translated materials, please contact us at wcscanada@wcs.org
