Key points

• An international team of researchers compiled a database of more than 110,000 observations of mercury concentrations from 59 studes across the Arctic, sub-Arctic, and alpine permafrost regions of the Northern Hemisphere;
• The database enables cross-site synthesis, model calibration and evaluation, and environmental assessments by standardizing and harmonizing data from diverse sources;
• The database is freely accessible through Zenodo to support ongoing research and model development in Arctic and sub-Arctic mercury cycle studies.
