Northern Boreal Mountains

Rachel worked with breeding forest birds, shorebird stop-over habitat, and DEI initiatives in local conservation as an undergraduate with the National Audubon Society and Delta Wind Birds nonprofit in Mississippi, USA. She then completed her M.Sc. thesis at Mississippi State University studying secretive marsh bird populations in the northern Gulf of Mexico. Similar to many of the birds she studied in the South, she migrated to the North and has since delved into the remarkable boreal ecosystem of the Yukon. Her research interests have included (but not limited to) wetland dependent species of conservation concern, land use and climate change, population and species distribution modeling, and indigenous science.
